Obituary
We are sad to announce that Michael Richard Hart, 70, of Chiefland, died October 10, 2023, at home. He was born December 19, 1952, to Richard and Sammye Lee Hart in Williston, FL. Hart graduated from Chiefland High School in 1970, after graduating he joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he was a Sergeant, serving as a Tank Commander doing tours in Okinawa, Japan, and the Mediterranean. He married Sandra (Peanut) Knight, and they had three children, Brian, Brianne, and Matt. He was an EMT for Gilchrist County and retired in 2018. Hart is survived by his mother, Sammye Lee Hart, his brother John Hart (Carloyn), his sister MaryBeth Hopson (Daniel), his daughter Brianne Hart, his son Matt Hart (Paige), his daughter-in-law Stacy Hart, his granddaughters Morgan, Alexson, and Madi Hart, his grandsons Greyson Elmore, Jacob, and Reese Hart, and one great-grandson. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hart, and his son, Brian Michael Hart. He will be remembered by all as a quiet soul who spoke with purpose and was kind to all. There will be a celebration of life on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 6-8pm at Knauff Funeral Home in Chiefland, Florida. The funeral will be Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10:30am at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
