Obituary

MARY EVELYN ALLEN LANE Born January 20, 1935, to Wes & Stella Allen, of Chiefland, Florida. Evelyn was the 7th child born into this family and was raised as "the baby of the family". Evelyn was a graduate of Chiefland High School class of 1952. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd W. Lane Sr. Evelyn and Lloyd were married on the 29th of February (Leap Year). Therefore, they only celebrated their anniversary every 4 years! Evelyn worked alongside Lloyd in the gas and oil industry. They spent many, many years as a Chevron Jobber. This business was an integral part of the growth of Chiefland. They provided gas and oil to the new businesses that arrived in Chiefland as well as their established farming and timber customers. They made many lifelong friendships throughout the tri-county area. Evelyn was an active member of First Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed her Sunday School Class. She last attended services on Mothers Day of this year to see her great granddaughters baby dedication. Evelyn was a great cook. Although, she never thought that of herself. She hosted many family dinners and delighted in visiting with loved ones. Evelyn enjoyed the mountains in North Carolina. The Lanes had a second home in Franklin, North Carolina for several years and Evelyn always looked forward to spending time there. Evelyn is survived by her son Lloyd W Lane, Jr. and her son Keith (Jennie Lynn) Lane. She is also survived by her granddaughters Leslie Lane and Lacee Lane Bonnell (Julian). There is also her only great grandchild Layla Lena Bonnell, whom she thought was very special! Several nieces and nephews are left behind to cherish their memories of Aunt Evelyn. Evelyn passed away Monday 9-4-23. Services will be held at the Hardeetown Cemetery on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at 10:00am. SERVICES Graveside Service
