George Donahue

George Donahue left this life to go on to his heavenly home on August 2, 2023. He had tremendous faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He never shied away from an opportunity to share his knowledge of the gospel with others. It was something he strived to live daily and applied the principles to his daily life. He had a close and personal relationship with his Savior, which brought him through the many challenges and trials of his life. George was a devoted and protective husband, father, and friend. He had never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. He sought to leave everyone better than he found them. He had high expectations for himself as well as for those around him, seeking to always find ways to improve. George lived a life of service including serving a 2 year mission for his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which was a highlight in his life. He was happiest when serving others, whether family, friends or someone he just met. His capacity to love others and actively search for ways to help them, was a hallmark of his life. George had an amazing sense of humor, often cracking jokes and pulling pranks on his friends and loved ones. He had a brilliant mind, finding the most effective ways to complete a task or project. He was a born manager and leader, effortlessly organizing details of work to be performed or events to be carried out. This was exemplified in his work life with his landscape management business which he owned and managed for over 15 years. Whether hunting, fishing, boating or riding his horses, George was in his element when he was in nature. He often took horseback rides or drives through the woods in his truck, as it brought a sense of calmness to his life. George is survived by his wife Tonya (Tanton) Donahue, daughters Jamie Donahue and Jordan Donahue, step children David Gray, Brian Gray, Kaitlyn Gray, Amber Gray and Rachel Gray, his parents George Donahue and Mary (Masters) Donahue and sister Pamela Donahue. The funeral service for George will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Williston on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 6 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior for a visitation. Bishop Geoffrey De Shazer will officiate. The committal service will take place the following day, Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 11:30 AM.
