Obituary
Donald Lee Shomaker, 71, died Monday, March 27, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Don was born May 10, 1951 in Mexico Missouri to Elaine and Edward Shomaker. Don was blessed with two children: Chad and Kari. Don was a Maintenance Engineer who retired in 2016, and moved to Florida to enjoy "rays" and to be with his family. He loved Notre Dame, the Yankees, and spending time with his great grandchildren. Don is survived by his sister Martha Bently; his children Chad Shomaker, Kari (Israel) Barajas; his four grandchildren; Megan(Alex), Manny(Megan), Jeana and Hector; and his eight great grandchildren; Nevaeh, Maddy, Mason, Kayden, Jase, Cohen, Kolby and Aliza. Besides spending time with his family, Don had a passion for collecting coins, caring for his dog Chico, three cats "baby", and having a nice cold beer at Billards. Don was stubborn, but had a heart of gold. He was always willing to give the shirt of his back to anyone in need. Don will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later time. Knauff Funeral Home of Chiefland is honored to serve the Shomaker family during their time of transition.
