Obituary

Arma Cason Beauchamp of Chiefland, FL, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 97 years young, at Plaza Health and Rehab in Gainesville, FL on November 7, 2022. She was a loving and deeply devoted Christian mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. A lifelong resident of Levy County, she was born on April 11, 1925 to Orlando and Cora Cason. After graduating high school, Arma was recruited to a vocational school where she obtained the skills necessary to aid in the war effort. Upon graduation from the vocational school, she was hired by Western Electric in Chicago, IL which had been taken over by the United States Navy. At Western Electric she worked as an Inspector for radars that were installed in Navy ships and planes. During her time in Chicago, she and Vance Beauchamp, who was currently serving in the United States Army, corresponded through letters as their relationship blossomed. It was through one of these letters that Vance proposed to Arma. Vance had his mother, Idel Beauchamp, get the ring to Arma in Chicago. Vance was honorably discharged from the Army on January 20, 1946. He and Arma were married 23 days later on February 12, 1946 in Chiefland, FL. Arma and Vance raised their three sons, Dr. Charles O. Beauchamp, Gregory V. Beauchamp, and Gary T. Beauchamp in Chiefland, FL. Those years were filled with countless trips to swim in the springs, fish on the Suwannee river, and hunt down at the camp. Hauling all three boys to school, practices, and games for baseball, basketball, and football was a full time occupation. They were both active members of First Baptist Church of Chiefland and the Chiefland Golf and Country Club. Arma remained an active member of both well into her nineties. Her favorite pastimes were bird watching from her breakfast table, tending to her beautiful flowers, and spending time with her family. Arma was preceded in death by her husband Vance E. Beauchamp (1993) and her son Gary T. Beauchamp (2018). Mrs. Beauchamp is survived by sons Dr. Charles O. Beauchamp of Franklin, TN and Gregory V. Beauchamp of Chiefland, FL and Daughter-in-law Nancy L. Beauchamp of Ocala, FL. She leaves behind five grandchildren: Tiffany Beauchamp Rowland (Mark), Toby Beauchamp, Lauren Beauchamp Marlowe (Jordan), Lynn Beauchamp, and Melissa Beauchamp. She also had four great-grandchildren: Katie Grace Rowland, Cason Rowland, Emma Jane Marlowe, and Logan Marlowe. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Chiefland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home, Chiefland, FL. Graveside Service Saturday, November 12, 2022 2:00 PM Chiefland Cemetery 901 SE 4th Avenue Chiefland, Florida 32626
