William Slaughter

William " Buddy" Slaughter Jr. 73 of Fanning Springs passed away after a battle with cancer on October 8, 2022 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Buddy was born on December 15, 1948, in Gainesville, Florida. He was the son of Flossie M. and William Fernando Slaughter Sr. He graduated from Cedar Key High School . Buddy married Debra Ann Osborne on December 26, 1997. He retired from Sheet Metal Workers International Local 80 in Michigan. Mr. Slaughter also worked for the Levy County Sheriffs Office, and served his country in Vietnam. Buddy loved sports, fishing with family and friends, outdoor home improvements, watching NASCAR Races and spending time with his cousin W.W. "Billy" Slaughter whom he thought of as a brother. He attended the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. Mr. Slaughter leaves behind his wife, Debra Ann "Debbie" Slaughter of Fanning Springs, his children Hope Slaughter Staley of Palm Beach Gardens, FL., Kellie Slaughter of Jacksonville, FL., 9 grandchildren, his Sister Sharon (John) Summers of Cedar Key, FL., and a niece, Brenda Summers. He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Flossie Slaughter, and his Mother-in-Law Eunice Osborne in May 2019. Graveside Services will be Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 12 Noon at Cedar Key Cemetery, with Billy Slaughter officiating. A reception will follow after the funeral service at the Christ Episcopal Church fellowship hall in Cedar Key.
