Obituary
Daniel Willis Priest of Williston, Florida passed away at the age of 91 on September 25th, 2022, at the Gainesville VA Hospital. Danny was born January 10, 1931, in Morriston, FL, the son of the late Rosa Mae (Stephenson) and Ferney Willis Priest The former husband of Katherine (Jane) McCune of Williamsburg, Virginia, he is survived by his daughter Wanda Priest Fox (Dennis) of Southport North Carolina, son Eric Priest (Nancy) of Hurt, Virginia, daughter Catherine Rose Davis (Dennis) of Williamsburg, Virginia, and daughter Margaret (Peggy) Cowan (Chris) of Williamsburg, Virginia. Also surviving are his sisters Barbara Weeks (Billy) and Patricia Fugate, brothers Reggie (Diane) and Hallie (Karen) of Williston, Florida, and the late Edward Priest. Grandchildren include Daniel Richard Priest of Dorr, Michigan, Amanda Jane Priest of Chesapeake, VA, Eric Daniel Priest Jr of Pittsburg, PA, Mathew Grayson Priest of Poquoson, VA, Michelle Falin and Jeremy McClellan of Williamsburg, VA and Andrew Lipsky (Savannah) of Limestone Tennessee as well as the late Melanie Lipsky. Danny has 2 great grandchildren, Mako Lipsky and McKenzie Meador. He had numerous nieces and nephews to include Ferney Priest, Cheri Ramos and Edward Priest who were raised by their Grand Mother and Uncle when their father passed away. He served over 20 years in the US Navy as a Mineman Chief Petty Officer. His duty stations included Yorktown, VA, Oahu, HI, Newport and Millville, RI, Portsmouth, NH, Okinawa, Japan, San Francisco and San Diego, CA, and Charleston, SC. His awards include the National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Award (five awards). After retiring from the Navy, he worked for the Florida Transportation department as a landscape maintenance technician. In the place of flowers, please make a donation in Dannys name to the Militarys Fisher House Foundation, Quilts of Honor, First Presbyterian Church (247 NE 1st St Williston, FL 32696) or to a local animal shelter -- he loved the little dogs and no tailed cats. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Williston on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM with a visitation held at 10:30 AM. Pastor Joan E. Wells will officiate. Knauff Funeral Home of Williston is in charge of arrangements. To all of Danny's family my deepest sympathy. I've got a lot of good memories of Danny in the hunt woods (Fiber Factory) always riding around with the rain boots hanging upside-down. Also at the Baptist church on Friday nights skating. Prayers are with the family.
