Obituary
Mason Logue, 89, of Chiefland, went home to be with the Lord on August 5, 2022. He was born in Bradenton, Florida, the 13th of 14 children of John Quincy and Mary Agnes (Odom) Logue. He was born again into the Christian faith in 1950. Mason was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Janet (Rapone) Logue, and is survived by his sister Saralyn, his 2 daughters and son, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He served as an aviation electricians mate aboard aircraft carriers in the U.S. Navy, followed by a 40-year career in the grocery business. After that, Mason served 23 years as a deputy with the Levy County Sheriffs Office, retiring in 2019. Flying was Masons passion beginning in his childhood when he would pump gas and do other jobs to get airplane rides. He steadily worked his way to private pilot, then commercial pilot, and ultimately became a certified flight instructor. Mason and Janet were welcomed to Chiefland in 1979. It became their new hometown, where Janet worked in a bank until she retired, and where Mason transitioned from the grocery business to law enforcement. They were both active members of First Baptist Church, Chiefland, and made many dear friends there and throughout the community. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Masons life on August 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Chiefland. Masons children give special recognition to First Baptist Church of Chiefland, and to Sandra Colson and her wonderful family for the love, friendship, and support they gave Mason, especially in the last 10 years, as his mobility and health declined. They gave generously and selflessly to improve his quality of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Chiefland or the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches (www.youthranches.org). Knauff Funeral Home of Chiefland is honored to serve the Logue family during their time of transition. Mason was always a person I had the highest regards for. He was always straight forward, and if you didn't want to know, don't ask him! I was privileged to having had the opportunity to work with him, and he was straight forward in his answers, if you asked him a question! I am definitely proud to having him as a true friend, an will definitely miss his dry, but to the point, humor! Miss you already old Buddy! Bubba

I came to know Mr. Mason while working at the Levy County Probation Office, prior to transferring to the Tax Collector's Office. We would speak about the Lord and tell stories about family. He found those two subjects to be great priorities. I gained some marital wisdom from him through our conversations over 20 years ago. He left a lasting impression.

Mason was a great mad and will be missed. There was no gray with him, it was all black and white and if you didnt like it, that was too bad. We need more Mason Lounges in our world. Rest easy my friend.
