Frances Ice

Frances Garoppo Ice, 96 passed away on July 15 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. Fran was born in Philadelphia, Pa. She met Bob, the love of her life at the Philadelphia Navy Yard during World War II where she worked in accounting and Bob was a USMC guard. They were married in 1946 after Bob returned from the Pacific theater. Fran was an avid golfer and bowler. She was a member of the Chiefland Golf Club where she was a member and officer of the Chiefland Womens Golf Association. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents Frank and Mamie Nespola Garoppo and a son Richard. She is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Sue) and Keith (Karla) Ice and a daughter Madelene (Drew) Reid. She has 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She and Bob lived in Broward County Florida before moving to Chiefland in 1983. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. She will be greatly missed. A visitation will be at Knauff Funeral Home Chiefland, Monday, July 18th from 5pm to 8pm.
