Mike Shoemaker

Michael Preston Shoemaker, 77, of Williston, Florida, died July 19, 2022, with his family by his side. Mike was born September 6, 1944, in Scioto County, Ohio, to Harry and Marie Shoemaker. Mike attended Lucasville Valley High School in Lucasville, Ohio. He then attended Ohio State University, graduating in 1966 with a degree in business administration. Mike continued his education graduating with a Masters degree from the Navy Post-Graduate School in Monterey, California. He served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and received an honorable discharge with the rank of Lieutenant. After serving in the Navy, he was employed in the Merchant Marines where he was a chief mate and captain of large container ships that sailed all over the world. Mike served on the Williston City Council from 2008-2012. He enjoyed retirement with his many friends in the area. He is survived by his brother Harry Shoemaker of Ft Lauderdale, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife Aleta, also of Williston. He will be buried with honors at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
