Obituary

Mr. Ralph William Dixon, 90, of Yankeetown, FL passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at his home after a brief illness. Born in Darlington, South Carolina on January 3, 1932, he came to Yankeetown twenty-nine years ago from Jacksonville Beach, FL. He had a lifelong career working in sales for the Seaboard System Railroad/CSX, and was a retired army reservist. He was a previous member of the Jacksonville Traffic Club and an active member of the Blackwater Fishing Club. His hobbies included fishing, cooking for friends and family in the backyard, and reading the news, Facebook, and anything interesting he could find on his Ipad. Ralph was a wonderful storyteller and was never happier than when he had a captive audience for one of his wonderfully detailed stories. His memory for details was incredibly sharp and he rarely told the same story twice. Mr. Dixon was predeceased by his loving wife Deloris Dixon and daughter Susan Gaffney, and is survived by his sister, Ruth Dixon Campbell of Darlington, SC, his sons, Gregory (Carla) Dixon of Jacksonville, FL, and David R. (Laura) Dixon of Awendaw, SC; daughter, Lisa (Curt) Hingson of Jacksonville, FL, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service for both Ralph and Deloris Dixon on Saturday, July 9, 2 pm, at the Community Church in Yankeetown, FL, and a reception following at the Yankeetown Women's Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the Yankeetown Women's Club, PO Box 298, Yankeetown
