Obituary
Portia Elizabeth Sache of Chiefland, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 25th at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, FL. She was 75. Portia was born on March 11, 1947 to her parents Porter J. and E. Josephine Sache. She was a graduate of Chiefland High School, Lake City Community College, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and the University of Florida where she majored in Education. Upon returning home to the family farm where she was raised outside of Chiefland, FL, she embarked on a career as a teacher, Health and Rehabilitative Service social worker and for the Department of Corrections Portia worked for the State of Florida until retirement. After retirement she enjoyed living on the farm and watching her cows from her house. She enjoyed a very sweet watermelon and shared it with her nephews and nieces. Her family was her joy. She found her conversations with her sisters a great delight. She would spend time with the kids working on puzzles. She was also a long time member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Portia is predeceased by her brother Porter "Buddy" Sache Jr and Sister Faye I Sache. She is survived by her sisters Donna (Billy) Leggett and brother Wesley (Debi) Sache, nephews Leslie "Tater" (Heidi) Keene, Porter Leo Sache, Jake (Tiffany) Sache, Seth (Morgan) Sache, Darrell Norris and Cason Nessmith, great- nephew Kade Sache, and great-nieces Avery, Emmalee, Sadie, Weslyn and Sutton Sache, Morgan and Brooke Reichardet. Saturday, May 28, 2022, a visitation will be at 10 AM and followed by the service at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Chiefland in Chiefland, FL. with Pastor Kris Mullis officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Haven Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home, Chiefland, FL. Family and friends are welcome at Portias house down the dirt road from the farm. 3350 NW 130th Street. Knauff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sache family during their time of grief. I have known Portia all my life but since my sister Cheryl died and her sister Faye it seems we had a bond. When we would meet we talk for thirty minutes or so just reminiscing. Portia became special to me. I feel like she was a true friend. Im so sorry she is gone. Forever in my heart often on my mind.

Portia was always admired by myself and family. Much of my memories were from our childhood with 4-H and family gatherings. These memories are for a lifetime. She will be missed. My condolences go out to the Sache family.
