Obituary
Wayne Locke passed away peacefully at home in Chiefland on Saturday, May 28, 2022. He was 79. He was born on May 26, 1943, in Gainesville, Florida. Wayne grew up in Chiefland attending schools K through 12, graduating from Chiefland High School in 1961. After graduating, he joined the Army, serving his time in Germany. After leaving the Army, Wayne moved to St. Petersburg where he met his wife Barbara. In 1974 Wayne and his family moved to Chiefland where he lived until his death. Wayne worked on his family farm until he went to work for A.D. Andrews nursery until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed traveling and, spending time with family and friends. Later in life, he devoted himself to his two dogs, Blackie and Roxie taking care of them. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Willie Mae Locke. He is survived by his wife Barbara, son Michael, and grandson Clayton his brother Del (Becky), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice. Services for Wayne will be Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Knauff Funeral Home Chapel 715 W. I only knew Wayne for a few years. I met him at the Truck Stop and we had many conversations and laughs about our tour of service in Germany. We had different political views but our discussions on that subject were always civil. I respected Wayne for that because he could be super opinionated at times. I will miss our daily lunch at Betts. He has been missed by many patrons at the Betts Truck Stop. RIP Wayne!!!
