Colin Jenkins

Dewayne Jenkins, 76, passed away after a short illness on April 25, 2022 at his childhood farm in Trenton, FL, surrounded by family and love. Dewayne was born in Gulf Hammock, FL to Alda & Quincy Jenkins and was raised on a tobacco farm that he eventually owned and worked. In the last several decades, he worked at Jenkins Painting in Chiefland, FL. Dewayne will always be remembered for his kindness, quick wit and was never at a loss for the perfect Southern wisecrack. His big heart and generosity extended beyond his family and was well known throughout his local community. He never met a stranger and could make even a diehard sourpuss break into a laugh. Dewayne took joy not only in family, but in all things NASCAR, John Deere, Ford, The Florida Gators, and vintage car collecting as a member of the Tri County Cruisers. Dewayne is survived by wife Berta, brother Greg, daughters Lisa (Gene) and Karen (Ned), Zee (Lee), sons Ray (Erin), William, Mark (Eva) and grandchildren Hayden, Katelynn, Elena, Destiny, Brianna, Victoria, Quincy, Lenise, Markie and LJ. He was predeceased by his parents, Quincy and Alda, and by his brother, Quentin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches (www.youthranches.org). Services for Mr. Jenkins will be held at the Knauff Funeral Home Chapel in Chiefland, Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 10:00am, Services will start at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Trenton, Florida. Knauff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Jenkins family in their time of transition.
