Thomas "Mike" Rawls

Thomas Michael Rawls, known to most as Mike, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2026, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply and will forever feel the space he filled so effortlessly. Mike was truly one in a million. He was the kind of man who stood tall in his values, firm in his word, and generous in his actions. A good man in every sense of the phrase, he helped every person he came across—never seeking recognition, only wanting to make things better for others. If you knew Mike, you knew loyalty, strength, and unwavering kindness.

He was beloved by so, so many. His life was defined not by grand gestures, but by consistent love, quiet sacrifice, and a willingness to show up—every single time. He made people feel safe, supported, and valued simply by being who he was. Mike had a deep passion for fishing, hunting, digging, and finding purpose in all things outdoors. Whether on the water or in the woods, he felt most at home surrounded by nature. Those moments reflected his patience, appreciation for simple joys, and respect for the world around him.

Mike leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Cris Maynard Rawls, who stood beside him through every season. He is also survived by his daughters, Roxzanne Magin Rawls (Jeff) and Crissy Rawls Wheeler (Forrest), who were his pride and greatest joy; his cherished grandchildren, Cash Michael Wheeler and Piper Ophelia Plawecki. As a grandfather, he was full of warmth and steady strength — quick to laugh, always ready to play, and fiercely devoted to protecting and guiding them. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Marshall Rawls (Susie). His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

He was preceded in death by his father, Newton Marshall Rawls, and his mother, Alice Pedrick Rawls, who undoubtedly welcomed him home.

Though his passing was unexpected, the impact of his life was undeniable. Mike's strength, integrity, and heart will echo for generations. He was deeply loved.

A visitation will be held at Weems & Sons Funeral Homes on Wednesday,  February  11, 2026 from 10am-12pm with a service beginning at noon.  Burial will follow at Plummers Cemetery.
