Dana Fleury

Dana Fleury escaped the mortal realm on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. We like to think his new role is that of an angelbut knowing Dad hes more likely than not laughing while he plays haunting tricks on us. Dana fought Lymphoma, Leukemia, a failing heart, and kidney failure, and Murphys Law for more than a decade. Sadly, as Dad had often predicted, his heart is what failed him first. Dana leaves behind a loving but very spoiled wife, Tina Fleury, a multitude of children (7 to be precise) and countless grands (grandchildren) as he lovingly called them. Dana has been an un-paid handyman for his mother, Phyllis Paquin, who will now need to employ one of his 6 remaining siblings to fill the role. Applications can be sent to Phyllis at The Landing, although his older brother "Jaws" (Dale) will likely already be employed. Supernatural shenanigans are likely expected to occur on Danas siblings Dale, Doug, Donnie, Denise, and Debbie. He will also be hitching rides with his beloved sister Donna, and her husband Dick, while they travel the country in their RV. Phyllis "really liked the D" as Dad once said, as evident with her naming convention for the family. We are not held liable for any damages Dad may cause, both mentally or physically, should he pay you a visit. Just know if he does come around, its because he loved his family and feels youre worth spending time with, even in the afterlife. Dana joined the United States Army when he was a strapping 18 years young. He was appointed to the 82nd Airborne Division, where he was employed as a Paratrooper. During his service, dad fought in the Battle of Granada, and was stationed in Germany where he witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall. Dana retired as a Sargent First Class after 20 years of service, and too many badges and metals to count. As if jumping out of planes and seeing battle wasnt enough for him, after his retirement he went on to join the Connersville Police Department. During his time with CPD, youd find Dad on bicycle patrol, on the SWAT team, or doing Dive Recovery. His final career was an officer with the State of Florida, as a Sargant for Lancaster Correctional Institution. After so many years of running towards danger, Dad decided to do an about-face and trade in his boots for beer. As you can tell by Danas career choices, he was not one to shy away from adrenaline and adventure. It seems the only fear he had in life, was living a dull one. If he wasnt working youd find Dad skydiving, scuba diving, riding motorcycles, travelling in the RV, fishing, leaning out the window and giving someone the bird on the interstate, and going ghost hunting across the country. You can even find him on the Travel Channel discussing his paranormal adventures. Feel free to talk to his spirit, Im sure hell answer you... or throw a ball at you if one is nearby! He was never one for sentiment or religiosity, but well-wishers are encouraged to make a toast in honor of him, with your pinky out of course! Yuengling or Makers Mark is his preferred; best not to toast him with a light beer, for fear that he might make you spill it on yourself. His strength and love will forever live on in our lives. To anyone who knew Dad, you knew his laugh was unforgettable and infectious. For someone who has battled and endured so much, he still found reasons to smile, laugh and lift others up. Although his health battles have been ongoing, his departure was sudden and unexpected. Dana did not wish to "rot in a box" when his time on this world was up and will thus be having a Celebration of Life on the Suwannee River in Old Town, Florida. Celebration will be held on Saturday March 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm (or as Dad would have said 14:00) at the following address: 35 SE 8037 Street, Old Town, Florida 32680 Attire is casual, as Dad hated anything fancier than his favorite Columbia fishing shirt. In honor of Dana, we will all raise a glass, and keep his legacy alive with our Pinkies Out, for the most bad a**, strong, loving, and humble man to have graced us with his presence.
