Obituary

Leone Holder, of Jensen Beach, passed away January 17th three days shy of her 82nd birthday. Born Leone Eugenia Sapp in Williston, FL, in 1940 to Barbara and Leo Sapp, she was the second of five children. She attended Williston High School and graduated from Florida State University in 1962. She taught school for only a few years but left a lasting impression on many students, some of whom she was in contact with in recent years. She left education to raise her three children but eventually went back to work, first as a manager of production at Triformation Systems making braille boards for the blind and later as a legal secretary. She was loved by her co-workers, friends, and of course by her loving family! She relished her years of retirement, spending time with her extended family and friends. She was a passionate sports fan and avid Seminole. There was an emphasis on girls' basketball but she loved watching sporting events of all of her grandkids. Although she hasn't played tennis in many years, she regularly gathers with her old teammates. And a standing dinner date with her Tuesday night trivia team was a highlight of her time in Jensen. She is survived by her three children, Ellen (James) McCormick, Janet (David) Jablonski, and Paul (Susan) Holder and seven grandchildren, Tyler, Jessie, David Jr., Rachel, Ben, Courtney and Patrick. She is also survived by two siblings, Delilah Williams and Leo Sapp Jr., her sister-in-law, Jane Sapp and her brother-in-law, Myron Cantin. She is preceded in death by her loving parents and her two sisters whom she adored, Barbara Cantin and Gloria Singleton. Visitation will be held at Knauff Funeral Home, 512 E Noble Ave, Williston, FL on Saturday January 22nd at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Graveside service and burial will immediately follow at Orange Hill Cemetery in Williston, FL. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Jensen Beach, FL. Knauff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Holder family during their time of transition. I was so shocked to hear of Leone's passing. She was a good friend and we shared some wonderful (and hilarious) moments on the tennis court, at Trivia, BUNCO, and the lunch table! As the girls gather today for our monthly luncheon, we will remember her fondly and reminisce about the good times we had with her. My condolences to her family.
