Herman Brettin

Herman Albert Brettin March 9, 1948 - December 30, 2021 Herman crossed over the Rainbow Bridge into heaven on December 30, 2021 at the age of 73. He passed away in is home from natural causes. He left behind his daughter, Carla Cole, and his grandson, Brett Cole. Herman was greeted in heaven by: His son's, Kenneth J. Brettin & Herman Albert Brettin Jr. ; His brother, Fred A. Brettin; and His mother, Ida R. Brettin. Herman joined the United States Army in 1968 where he completed Basic Training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Then he was shipped to Fort Belvoir, for his Advance Individual Training for the Bridge and Construction specialist under the Corps of Engineers. He deployed his knowledge in Vietnam during 1968 to 1969. After his time in the service he became an over-the-road truck driver delivery anything from apples to sarcasm. Nobody really knows if he loved his motorcycle excursions into Canada, his RV camping trips to state parks or his Ben and Jerry's More. The people that really knew him would say: "the ice cream." Herman's adventurous side called to him when he bravely completed the "Dragon's Tail" mastering 311 curves in an eleven mile stretch without a scratch. Friends and family will miss his optimistic out look. He lived his life to the fullest and under his owns terms. He had an ability to find humor in any situation. We are planning on a memorial and will update the details through the family grapevine. It is an Honor to serve the Brettin family in this time of transition.
