Lamar Sullivan

J. Lamar Sullivan was born on May 19, 1940 in Williston, FL where his mother gave birth to him in their home. He lived his whole life in Williston. Lamar died August 24, 2021 at the age of 81 in Gainesville, FL surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents Vera Koon Sullivan, John L. Sullivan, his brothers Aaron Sullivan, Loya Sullivan, Paul Sullivan, Milton Sullivan, his sisters Mary Ross, and Timmie Willis and baby Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Frances Chesser Sullivan, his son Brad Sullivan - (Wife Tonya Sullivan) granddaughter Kaylee Sullivan and grandson Austin Sullivan-(Wife Kirkland Sullivan) and his sister Virue Williams. He graduated from Williston High School in 1959. He served 4 years in the army where he was a member of the 82nd airborne rangers division, while stationed in Forthood, Texas he joined the baptist church. After finishing his years in the service he began working for WW Gay Mechanical in Gainesville, FL as a project superintendent for 35 years. He developed many relationships during his time at WW Gay and love them like his own he shared many stories from his time there even after retirement. After retiring he put all of his focus on the things he loved, his cows and horses, bailing hay, and his gardens, he took MUCH pride in his tomato plants and orange trees. He enjoyed going to horse sales, fishing, hunting, and cooking and bragging on his beagle "Sissy" that he treated himself to for his 80th birthday. He developed many relationships throughout his 81 years and cherished them all. He loved spending time with his family and friends and took great pride in his son, daughter in-law and his two grandchildren. You would never run into him without him getting to tell you a story, and he had A LOT of stories, maybe one you had already heard but you were going to listen anyway, and you would never mind because they were always so great. In his younger years he enjoyed fox hunting, running dogs, trail riding, judging field trials and so much more. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend, and would lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone. He is so loved by his family and friends and will be missed dearly. We know that he is at peace with the lord and reunited with his parents and siblings. There is no doubt in our minds that he will have plenty of new stories to share when we meet again, and we cant wait to hear them. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Orange Hill Cemetery in Williston at 9:00 AM with Brother Wes Smith officiating.
