George MacFeggan, IV

“Mac” (George Gary) MacFeggan IV proud member of “the family of God” went to be with his heavenly Father, January 26, 2026 after a courageous fight with cancer.

Mac was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, He grew up in Florida and Old Forge, NY. where his parents owned seasonal restaurants. After high school he served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After his enlistment was completed, he joined the Pompano Beach Police Department (PBPD), quickly being promoted to Staff Sergeant in 1965. He was instrumental in many innovations as technology became an integral part of the police department. He also helped begin the first K-9 unit in the PBPD.

Over the years, Mac had many interesting adventures in the Air National Guard, serving in Maine, Tennessee, the Pentagon and Mississippi. He often shared that one of his most unique jobs in the Air Force was to ‘lay on his belly and pass gas' (as a boom operator on KC-135 refueling aircraft.) Both he and his wife Karen retired from the Air National Guard as Master Sergeants then began their next phase of adventures.

After their retirement they enjoyed traveling. Their most memorable trip was on their Gold Wing motorcycle taking a 10,384 mile trip all over the United States. Upon their return from that remarkable trip they purchased an RV and enjoyed traveling and seeing the country. Eventually they settled in Chiefland, FL, where they lived for the last 18 years.

Mac was a charter member of Manatee Community Church, devoting his skill in technology in setting up the churches computer and sound systems. He enjoyed solid Bible teaching and loved the Lord, sharing his faith at every opportunity.

Mac is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen Lea LaCasse MacFeggan. He is also survived by his children; Scott, Steven, Sharon, Kenny, Debbie, Tammy, and Emily. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 3-5pm for a visitation at Weems & Sons Funeral Home, 715 West Park Avenue, Chiefland, FL 32626.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11:00am at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Military honors will be provided by the Macdill Air Force and Marion County Honor Guard.
