Silas Allen

Silas ODavid Allen, Jr. went to meet his heavenly father on August 19, 2021. He was born the third of seven children on June 27, 1950 to Si and Dorothy Allen of Chiefland. He attended Chiefland High School where he played football, ran track, and graduated with the Class of 1968. David married his high school sweetheart, Melanie Graham. They had two children, Kenneth ODavid and Nancy DeeAnn. David was a founding member of the Levy County Licensing board. He served the City of Chiefland as a commissioner and mayor for many years. He was a former member of Civitan and the Chiefland Rotary Club. David was self-employed as a building contractor, owning Allen Construction and co-owning Allen Aluminum. David loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending many hours on the water and in the woods with his family. He traveled many times to Colorado, Texas, and West Virginia to hunt. He also enjoyed camping and traveling to state and national parks. He most recently toured Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. David was a member of Hardeetown Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He served as co-chairman of the building committee during the construction of the Sunday School Annex and the Fellowship Hall of Hardeetown Baptist Church. He also served on several missions teams for the Harmony Baptist Association providing relief to victims of natural disasters. David is survided by his wife of fifty-two years, Melanie Graham Allen; his son, Kenneth ODavid Allen (Lori); and his daughter, Nancy DeeAnn Williams (Jamie); his grandchildren, Tristan ODavid Allen and Sydney Allen Pettingill (Mother, Darby), and Jacob Allen Kline (Father, Kenny). He is also survived by siblings Robert (Pam), Kay, Ida (Jim), and Carolyn. David was preceded in death by his parents Silas ODavid Allen, Sr. and Dorothy Walker Allen and family members: Leroy, Madge, Hank, Cande, Howard and Carol. A celebration of Davids life will be held at Hardeetown Baptist Churchs fellowship hall on Saturday, September 4th, 2021 at 3:00 pm.
