Gilbert Moreeuw

Gilbert Francois Moreeuw born on July 28, 1932 passed away on July 6, 2021 in Ocala, Florida. He was 88 years old. He came to the United States from Belgium in 1963 where he lived in Ohio. He moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1964 where he worked for Ford Motor Co. then later worked at AMC Motors till 1976. He moved to North Miami in 1977 where he worked at Oldsmobile, then Buick. Gilbert moved to Ocala, Florida in 1986 and opened Dans Custom Carts in Williston, Florida in 1987. Gilbert was a hardworking man with a strong work ethic. He was an avid reader of books and had a special love for the ocean, he liked to play chess, cross word puzzles and was a major Jeopardy fan. He is preceded in death by his wife Simone Moreeuw, step son Edy Maeder, and daughter in law Rose Ann Maeder. He is survived by his three daughters Brigitte, Michelle, and Jeannie Moreeuw, grandson Justin Moreeuw and granddaughter Amber Porter; three step sons Alain, Phillip, and Daniel Maeder; son in law Kenny Porter, and two daughter in laws Janet and Debra Maeder; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Gilbert will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Knauff Funeral Home of Williston is honored to serve the Moreeuw family during this time of transition.
