Obituary

Delma Ray Sheffield of Williston Fl, passed away on Friday June 4th 2021. He was born May 7th 1935 in Gulf Hammock Fl To William Newton Sheffield and Mabel Louise Nicholas Sheffield. Delma joined the United States Air Force at an early age and married Mary Earlean Stephens. His service took him all over the world, with Earlean following him across the United States. Together they had four children and lived in various states together before coming back to Florida and settling in Williston. After serving in the military for 20 years, Delma retired and started a new venture, installing and servicing pumps and wells. He ran a successful business with the help of one of his sons later in life, Sheffields Pump Service, which is still in operation today. Delma loved spending time with family, fishing and hunting. Every hunting season you could find him at their camp in Georgia, and summers on the boat in the Gulf. In the last couple of years, Delmas favorite things included visits from some of his great grandchildren, his eyes would light up when holding a baby or playing with a puppy. Delma was preceded in death by both of his parents and youngest daughter, Norma Woeller (Richard). He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Earlean Sheffield, three children Lori Lott (John), Kenneth (Charlene) and Melvin (Lisa) Sheffield, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Knauff Funeral Home in Williston from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Otter Creek Baptist Church at 10AM with Pastor Tim Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedars of Lebanon Cemetery in Inglis, Florida with Military Honors.
