Essie Hodge

Essie Mae Rhodes Hodge, of Williston, Florida went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2021. Ms. Hodge was born September 18, 1930 in Whiteville, North Carolina. Ms. Hodge is preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Hodge, her Son, John Hodge, Sr. (Christine), her brother, Hubert Rhodes, and her sister, Pennie Williamson. She is survived by her brother, Morris Smith, of North Carolina, her sons, Eddie Hodge (Julie), and Billy Hodge (Brandy), both of Williston; Four grandsons, one granddaughter and 4 great-grandchildren. Ms. Hodge married in 1948, and moved to the Ocala area. After being a housewife, Ms. Hodge went to work at Shands Hospital in 1968, and quickly achieved a Supervisor position for the Surgery Department. She worked for Shands for 16 years before retiring in 1984. After retiring, she went to work for her Sons at Williston Timber Company, where she managed the office until 2015. Ms Hodge was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a member and elder of the Cornerstone Assembly of God in Williston before her illness kept her at home. She loved Church, reading, traveling, crocheting, oil painting, fishing and cooking. Ms Hodge had many friends over the years, but her favorite thing was being with her family, which was the paramount of her world. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday May 29th, 2021 at Cornerstone Church in Williston, FL at 2PM with Pastor Chester Clarke Officiating Burial will follow at the Hodge Family Cemetery in Williston, FL.
