Karl Rollins

Karl was my identical twin brother. He was 3 minutes older than me. We of course were very close as we shared so many memories of our childhood. We got kicked out of a religious organization together by questioning teachings that were not made clear to us from the Bible when we were 12 years old. We had many differences which were not typical of identical twins but we always respected our differences. In high school, Karl went to trade school for cabinetmaking, and I went for auto mechanics. We joined the Marine Corps together at 17 and we went through bootcamp together but were separated after graduation. After we completed 4 years of active service, I moved to Florida. Karl moved to Florida 6 years later to be closer to me. We used to play musical instruments together and performed in clubs and outdoor venues with different bands. He eventually moved to California for an elusive career. After 18 years, he retired and moved back to Florida. He built his dream home which I helped extensively with him to complete it. He only lived in it about a month before he passed away there. So many memories. I miss him so much.

Karl worked with my husband James Smithers in S. Florida at Overnite Transportation Co. for many years prior to his moving to California with his loving wife, Delores. We enjoyed many happy times together during those years, eating the delicious kimchi Deloris prepared for us. Karl loved music and played the guitar very well, performing in a local band at the time called Cousin Fungus. We are all dog lovers and were surprised to learn after moving back to Florida, that he had a beautiful black German Shepard as we also do. It has been many years since we last saw each other but we always kept in touch via phone. I only wish we had been able to spend more time together as Karl was one of the nicest, kindest people I have ever met. I am heartbroken that he has passed. Delores, I cannot express how sorry Jim and I are for your loss of such an honest, dedicated and loyal partner. RIP Karl and watch over your love from Heaven.
