Obituary

With heartfelt sadness, the Knott family regrets to announce that Kevin Thomas Knott, age 74, beloved husband, father and long-time resident of Morriston, Fl. has passed away. He died peacefully in his sleep at 10:33 in the morning on April 10, 2026 at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.

Kevin served in the army for 3 years. Following that, he worked for 50 years as a GRIP, a member of the Motion Picture Studio Mechanics Local 52, part of the I.A.T.S.E (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, AFL-CIO).

About the man...

Throughout his life, Kevin had many interests and favorite pastimes.

As a young man, he was an avid reader, collector of books, and creative artist. In fact, when he attended the West Islip High School on Long Island, NY, many of his peers referred to him as "The Artist. "He was known as one of the top art students of his class. He always saw things "out of the box" so to speak, and he possessed a creative mind until the day he died.

In his late twenties, Kevin travelled. He made several trips to the island of Maui, Hawaii where he went scuba diving, and once, while swimming under the water, he managed to pet a Moray eel. He was very proud of that! He enjoyed Maui. Not only did he appreciate the Hawaiian culture, the beautiful beaches, the waterfalls, and the landscape, but he totally delighted in the cuisine. He especially liked the Maui burger, one of his favorite foods.

All throughout his life, Kevin took pleasure in watching sports, specifically hockey. His favorite team was the NY Islanders. For several years, he bought season tickets to their games and reveled when the team - His Team - won four consecutive Stanley Cup championships in the 1980s.

But when Kevin was at home, the place he considered his sanctuary, he found solace listening to music and watching movies. Sometimes he would spend hours at the computer putting together music CDs, carefully labelling them and creating artsy covers. He took pride in his vast collection of CDs. He collected movie DVDs as well.

On November 6, 1983, Kevin married Peggy Fauvell and they spent the next 43 years happily together. They shared 4 children together. Their oldest daughter, Jessica Eileen, tragically passed April of 1996. She was 9 years old at the time.

Above all else, Kevin was a devoted husband and father. He was always there for his wife and children, constantly providing them with financial and emotional support. At all times, he stood ready to love, to listen, to give good, strong hugs when needed, and never was he afraid to say I love you. His family loved him dearly and they will never forget all the fun he brought into their lives. There were trips to other states, stays at hotels, visits to amusement parks, resorts, restaurants, movie theaters, and beaches. And there were the times he decided to don his chef hat and cook his boiled ham or special lasagna. Plus, Kevin was adept at making his paper-thin crepes which he stuffed with fruit and topped with whipped cream. His kids really savored the taste of those.

Kevin was a likeable man, a gentle giant, as one friend described him. He was generous and forever ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Most people who knew Kevin remember his wonderful sense of humor. When his mind was strong, he often liked to kid around, make jests, or play with words in a funny way. Once he joked. "I think there's a definite maybe and a firm possibility that it will rain.” We feel that way today, except we know for certain that it will rain. For he is no longer on this earth sharing his life with us. And we will miss him terribly.

Kevin is survived by his wife Peggy Knott; his oldest child, Kevin Matthew Knott; his daughter and her husband, Kristi and Dylan Mead; his youngest daughter and her husband, Maggie-Marie and Regan Williams; his 3 grandchildren, Adrian, Kairi, and Jessica; his brother Edward Knott lll; his sister Barbara Crapser; and his youngest sister Teresa Ganzer.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, the date is to be determined.

Arrangements are entrusted to Weems & Sons Funeral Home of Chiefland.

I recall Kevin's love of music. He recorded many songs for me on cassette to listen to while I was away. I recall crashing at Kevin and Peggy's place after an evening at The Colony. Kevin played music and we all danced, laughed and enjoyed the hospitality. When I received the news about Kevin I immediately recalled when he began courting my sister, the relationship, the joy and happiness they brought to each other and shared with thier children. The memory of a song Kevin recorded came to my mind and I thought. Ofcourse! It was "Let My Love Open The Door" by Pete Townsend and it summed up everything i saw in Kevin. Beginning with his pursuit for my sister's hand. His easy going and gracious demeanor. Unassuming and open hearted personality. The way he loved to dance! Circling my sister on the dance floor. Keeping the beat. Owning it! The two of them dancing as if they were the only two people in the world and he carefully stepping, stomping, jamin....and gazing at her as if she were the only woman in the world. I'll miss you Kev but thank you. Thank you for showing me that love can open doors. God bless you.

I recall when working with coastal oil, we got off the ship port in manatee and rented a car to drove over to see Peggy, Kevin and family. At that time they were in a house near Disney/Orlando. Big Kevin was working a movie set. So Peggy myself and Kevin Jr. ( 12 years old), went to Hooters for his birthday. The Hooters girls found out it was Kevin Jr. Birthday so they started hugging and paying attention to him. I remember his glasses fogged up from all the steam coming out of his ears. Face bright red flush. Peggy was laughing when he said " Hey I got an idea, I'm gonna tell my friend to bring his dad and I'll bring my dad, and we'll have a father son day meal at Hooters.
